First Communion – Contact: Mary Jo Rodrick

Students entering the First Communion program should be at least 6 years old and in the 1st grade or higher. This is a two-year preparation program for students in the Parish Religious Education Program or Visitation School.

Older children and adolescents wishing to receive the sacrament of First Communion are enrolled in a separate class with their peers. This class also meets during the regularly scheduled PREP time. These students will follow the same schedule to receive their First Reconciliation and the Holy Eucharist. Parental involvement is required.

A two-year Archdiocesan program, September – May, in which teenagers explore their relationship with Christ and His Church in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Meeting dates and times vary.

Teaches fundamental faith foundations at the 3-5 year-old levels on Sundays during the 11:00am Mass; classes held October – May.

Teaches fundamental faith foundations at the 3-5 year-old levels on Sundays during the 9:30 Mass in Noah’s Ark located in the Chapter Room. Classes held September – May.

Jr. High Education –The EDGE - Contact: Mary Jo Rodrick 310.216.1145 x20
Teaches basic Catholic doctrine and practices, giving young people in Grades 6-8 the opportunity to grow in their faith through the Word, Worship, and Christian Service; meets Sundays at 9:15am concluding with 11am Mass. Classes held September – May.

Adult Faith Formation - Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults –Contact: Mary Jo Rodrick 310.216.1145 x20
(RCIA) A process of faith formation for unbaptized or baptized adults who wish to become Catholic or Catholics who wish to make their Confirmation/First Eucharist. These sessions are open to any adult who would like weekly discussion of the Sunday Scripture readings and learn more about their faith. The sessions explore Catholic beliefs and practices. This can lead to full initiation into the Catholic Church. The sessions meet on most Mondays from 7:30pm to 9:00pm.

Distributes communion on Mondays to those unable to attend Sunday Mass.

Giving Tree – Contact: Toni Kerker

Provides toys, diapers, and grocery scrip during the Christmas holiday season to the St. Margaret Center. Email tonimkerker@earthlink.net

Lunches for the Poor – Contact: Pat Menezes

Prepares sack lunches for distribution to the poor on Tuesday mornings in the Parish Center after morning Mass.

Respect Life Committee – Contacts: Barbara Berg and Tom Ullman

Informs parish about state and federal legislation and Action Alerts that will impact the innocent unborn and our elderly citizens; Collects donations for pregnancy help centers during October.

St. Margaret Center – Contact: Parish Office

Provides donations of canned food and toiletries for the homeless; items collected the last Sunday of every month in the vestibule of the church.

Spirit of Mary Prayer Group – Contact: Beverly Razzeto

Prays the rosary for the special intentions and needs of our parish on Thursdays in the Convent Chapel.

Assist the priests during Mass; training necessary.

Eucharistic Ministers – Contact: Donna Miller

Eucharistic Ministers are trained individuals who administer Holy Communion at Mass and bring the Holy Eucharist to the sick and elderly in their homes and the hospitals; training necessary.

Greeters – Contact: Parish Office

Greet and welcome people 15 minutes prior to the beginning of Mass.

Lectors – Contact: Bernadette Robert

Lectors are trained individuals who proclaim the Word of God at Mass and read the intercessions; training necessary.

Music

Sings at the Saturday 5:00pm Mass

Contemporary Choir Contact: Joanne Rachford
Sings at the Sunday 11:00am Mass

Sings at the 9:30am Family Mass and Christmas. Must be a member of Visitation School; practices are held in the Church after school.

Welcome parishioners and visitors to Visitation as they gather for Mass; direct those who are taking up of the offering, and distribute the parish bulletin.

Our hospitality committee develops community spirit by sponsoring social events and Sunday Coffee and Doughnuts; assists with projects for pastor and associated committees.
